Story’s Whole Roasted Pig and Other Weekend Possibilities

May 27, 2016  |  Jonathan Bender  |  2 min read

Story (3931 W. 69th Terrace, Prairie Village, Kansas) celebrates its fifth anniversary in style on Sunday with a whole roasted pig from 5 to 10 p.m. That pig will be turned into heaps of pork tacos with Santa Maria pinquito beans. The special dinner is $10 (the full dinner menu also is available). Make reservations by calling 913-236-9955.

Little Piggy KC — that new food truck hub (read more here) at 3014 Southwest Blvd. — is hosting a fried mushroom tasting at 6 p.m. on Saturday. Welcome to morel season.

In less edible news, Mr. Potato Head is the star of the show Saturday at 10 a.m. Hasbro and the Betty Brinn Children’s Museum are bringing a traveling, hands-on exhibit, The Adventures of Mr. Potato Head, to Crown Center (2450 Grand Blvd.). The exhibit is free.

Crafts and wine tasting are on the menu for A Taste of Westport Roots. The outdoor event is Saturday from 12 to 8 p.m. on the street in front of the Westport Saloon. There’s live music, craft vendors and free wine tasting from Barefoot Wine & Bubbly.

Always thought you were a wizard? Here’s your chance to show it. Davey’s Uptown (3402 Main St.) is hosting a night of Cosplay Wizardry and the Remembrance of Snape. (If you get that reference, this is your kind of night. If not, keep moving down the line.) DJ Dumbledhoor will be on hand, and they’ll have butterbeer along with a costume contest. The doors open at 7:30 p.m., and the event is $15.

We all have made bad decisions in the past after a few hours at the bar. Come revel in the often hilarious choices of others at Drunken Personal History on Saturday from 10 to 11 p.m. at the Kick Comedy Theater (4010 Pennsylvania Ave.). Watch improvisational comedians act out stories as they’re told. It’s $10, and there is beer from Green Room Burgers & Beer next door. If you need late dinner plans, Green Room has a Hawaiian Volcano Burger, a spicy combination of pineapple habanero chutney, tomatillo and American cheese on a 4-ounce house ground patty.
