Waldo Hopfest and Other Weekend Possibilities

Baristas will mix it up at Benetti’s Coffee Experience (6109 Blue Ridge Blvd., Raytown, Missouri) for a latte art throwdown and ninth anniversary party. The party, which kicks off tonight at 6:30 p.m., is a benefit for Camp Courage. A $5 entry gets you food and beer from the Crane Brewing Company.

There’s a mouse in your beer, eh. The Kansas City Public Library and The Pitch kick off the annual Off-the-Wall Film Series with a showing of “Strange Brew” (the Rick Moranis-Dave Thomas joint that features beer-loving Canadian brothers) tonight on the Rooftop Terrace at the Central branch (14 W. 10th St.). There will be beer samples from Kansas City Bier Company. The doors open at 8 p.m., and the film starts at 8:45 p.m. It’s free, but it’s bring your own blanket or folding chair.

Beer, glorious beer. The Waldo Hopfest is Saturday from 2 to 6 p.m. at 74th Terrace and Wyandotte Street (a half-block east of The Well). Avery Brewing Co., Stockyards Brewing,  Coop Ale Works and Rogue Ales are among the several dozen breweries that will be on hand. Tickets are $35 for general admission at the door.

Amigoni Urban Winery celebrates its fourth anniversary at the Daily Drovers Telegram Building (1505 Genessee St.) from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday. There will be food trucks over lunch (11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.), live music from the Shay Estes Quartet (3 to 6 p.m.) and a special Urban Drover release.

Heirloom Bakery & Hearth (401 E. 63rd St.) will celebrate a birthday this weekend. The East Brookside bakery turns one on Sunday with a party in the parking lot from 1 to 4 p.m. There will be free Heirloom snacks, a pop-up local craft market, coffee from Thou Mayest and ice cream from Betty Rae’s.

There’s a Food Truck Frenzy at Macken Park (1000 E. 27th Ave., North Kansas City) on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Pony up $15, and you’ll get a bite from three trucks. American Fusion, Boo Yah, CoffeeCakeKC, Helen’s on Wheels, KC Pinoy, Pip’s Burgers, Plaintain District (try their Cuban sandwich), Polar Oasis and Simply Frosted are slated to attend.

Good things happen when you work together. Hank Charcuterie (1900 Massachusetts St., Lawrence, Kansas) and The Campground are offering a Sunday Evening Service Collaboration from 6 to 9 p.m. The pairings sound serious — cured pork belly, artichoke barigoule, crostini, thyme oil and a cured egg yolk with J. Rieger & Co. whiskey infused with thyme, cynar, Demerara sugar, bay leaf and black peppercorn tincture. The collab menu is $25.
